GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES IRAS IN KIBAALE DISTRICT

Integrated Revenue Administration System (IRAS) to enhance revenue management in Kibaale District.

this was delivered by officials from the Local Government Financial Commission during the launch of the system in Kibaale district, where district staff was introduced and oriented to the new system highlighting on how it will be used to collect revenue and register tax payers with ease.

 

The orientation and launch was attended by stakeholders from different the district headquarters and those from the Sub Counties and Town Councils who convened in the District Council Hall at Kibaale District Headquarters.

Johnson Gumisiriza the Principal Finance Analyst from Local Government Financial Commission the system will reduce on leakages in revenue management at different levels in the district. 

He says the tax collector will be called to register and collect revenue using a sales machine and they will provide 20 Sales Machines to the district, machines that will help in sending money collected automatically to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) account using mobile money method without cash exchange.

Gumisiriza adds that, the tax collectors have been given a grace period of 1-2 months to be oriented, sensitized and re-register tax payers and submit their names to the authorities concerned so as the system to start applying.

While giving the closing remarks Deo Kabugo the Deputy CAO Kibaale appealed to the participants to be dynamic and embrace change for better transformation he however warned against those who cannot bear the trends to resign or retire immediately if they cannot cope.
