NYAMARUNDA HEALTH CENTRE III FUNDS TO BE SWEPT BACK TO CENTRE

By Muganzi Vincent District Communications Officer

The Chief Administrative Officer Kibaale John Katotoroma has acknowledged that some funds meant for the construction of Nyamarunda Health Center III will be swept back to the government treasury due to the slow pace of construction works at the project.

The multimillion project that was to run for eight months being undertaken by TRANDIT Limited at a tune of 1.74 billion shillings however the completion period was extended for three more months which expired on 20th of this month.

Katotoroma dismissed the allegations from the contractor (TRANDIT limited) accusing the district of delaying to release funds noting that the district has made payments worth over 939million shillings depending on physical progress at which construction works stands including the 30% advance payment of the 1.74 billion shillings that was given to the contractor before construction works started. He also reveals that the district has approved another payment certificate of over 297 million shillings to the contractor since the physical progress of the project has jumped to 80%.

According to Katotoroma who did not allow us to make a recording since he was rushing for other official duties says over 687million shillings is the current balance for the project insisting that the facility will not start until its completion.
