Even the moody weather prevailing in the District at the time could not stop the determined vaccination team of Kibaale District that managed to immunize all together 48,315 children during the 3- Day mass vaccination Campaign against Polio, as organized by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through Ministry of Health following an alert from World Health Organization that had identified trends of Polio outbreak in Uganda, neighboring countries and in the Horn of Africa Region.

In Uganda the polio virus had been marked in the Districts of Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso.Always at the helm of implementing government programs Kibaale District Local Government had targeted to immunize targeted 43,166 children (20.5 of the total population), but with the joint support from all stakeholders 111.9 % was attained with Kyakazihire Sub County ranking first at 167 % and Kibaale Town Council attaining 87.5 % of the 14 local Administrative Centers that constitute the District.

Even though the target was hit and the committed team was delighted to complete the exercise, an unknown number of the target group remained unvaccinated due to shortage of the vaccine and this left many stakeholders in the district disturbed.
However the Assistant DHO James Asiimwe advised them to continue taking their children for routine immunization at the different Health Units especially those who missed out during the campaign.
