"HOLD ONTO YOUR LAND JELOUSLY" FARMERS TOLD.

 

Farmers from Kibaale district cautioned against selling of their land.

 

 

 

During the visit KANA farms in Kabarole district the over 40 farmers from the district different Sub Counties in Buyanja East, Kibaale district were challenged to stay focused if they were to be successful farmers.

 

 

 

Led by the Principal Agricultural Officer Kibaale Hassan Matovu, on a 1-day study visit to for lessons and guidance on the one acre model, the farmers were delighted to meet and interact with Richard Nyakana the proprietor of  KANA farm that sits on  1.2 acer piece of land located in Rwengaju village, in Fort Portal city.

 

Nyakana a re-known National model farmer in Tooro region deals in 4 economic activities on the 1.2 acre piece of land that include; poultry farming, Dairy cow rearing, Feeds processing and Farm waste selling, activities that give him over Ugx 17M monthly.

 

 

 

The trip was led Kibaale district Production department and sponsored by Dr. Emely Kugonza the Buyanja East Member of Parliament. 

 

 

 

Richard Nyakana tasked the farmers to desist from land sell and fragmentation if they to use it productively and have ready harvests for the available markets, tipping them to start small and grow big.

 

 

 

Hassan Matovu the Principle Agricultural Officer Kibaale who led the group tasked the farmers to implement what they learnt to improve agriculture across the district.

 

 

 

The famers hailed the district for always giving them the necessary support on their farms though they have reached the level desired level, but promised to improve, they further hailed Dr. Emely for facilitating them to have the trip which they say has introduced them to new knowledge that they will put into practice to improve agriculture in Kibaale.
