KIBAALE DISTRICT RECEIVES 187,000 YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION DOSES
Kibaale district local government has received 187,000 yellow fever vaccination doses and its logistics a head of yellow fever mass vaccination campaign across the Country.
This was revealed today during a district coordination meeting held at district headquarters that was attended by Officials from the Ministry of Health, CAO Kibaale John Katotoroma, LC3 chairpersons, Sub county chiefs, cultural and religious leaders among others.
Julius Birungi the Cold Chain Technician Kibaale says recently the district received 187,000 doses of vaccine and its logistics which are currently being distributed to revelevant health facilities as they await the yellow fever mass vaccination whereby the vaccination will be administered by a health worker and assistant by selected VHT’s at each village. According to
James Asiimwe the assistant DHO Kibaale says the yellow fever mass vaccination campaign in the district will start from 14th- 18th this month at each village and all schools and targeted age groups starts from 9 months age up to 60 years. James reveals that Kibaale district projected population 2023 stands at 222,957 people revealing that they are targeting to vaccinate 93% of the projected population which is about 228,080 people stressing out that no any registered case of yellow fever in the district by of now.
Aidah Kahindo the central supervisor from the Ministry of Health says yellow fever is a viral disease and is transmitted by a bite of an affected Aedes mosquito and every difficult to diagnose in local areas stressing that the Ministry has introduced the yellow fever vaccine into the national immunization.
Addressing the stakeholders, Joseph Ochom the Regional supervisor says Ministry of Health has provided 213 million shillings to cater the activities of yellow fever mass vaccination and the funds have been channeled through the implementing partner called Baylor Uganda.
Deputy RDC Kibaale Carolyn Kashaija Muyambi and Gerald Bategeka the Vice chairperson LC5 Kibaale rallied everyone to go for vaccination but reacted on some resistant communities like Nyangakaibo religion that refuse to embrace government's efforts.
