At least 667 elderly persons in Kibaale district are excited after receiving the government’s Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment-SAGE funds for the last 9 months.

The exercise of giving out money to beneficiaries commenced this week across 8 Sub Counties and town council namely, Kibaale town council, Bwamiramira, Matale, Bubango, Nyamarwa, Nyamarunda, Kyebando and Mugarama Sub Counties. Mackline Tusiime the district focal person says they have disbursed 173 million shillings paying for last 9 months from January- September each beneficiary was give between 225,000- 300,000 shillings.Tusiime notes that they have enrolled 42 new elderly persons who will benefit in the next payment.

Speaking to some excited elders hailed President Museveni for supporting elders and that the given funds will help them to afford basic needs of life more especially food, accessing health services as well as enabling them to start up income generating projects.
