Schools in Kibaale District have been challenged to consider special needs learners
Schools in Kibaale District have been challenged to consider special needs learners during the planning and budgeting processes in their respective schools. The call was made by the District Education Officer Kibaale, John Kyaboona during a meeting at St. Theresa Bujuni Primary School that aimed at equipping special needs teachers and other stakeholders with digital skills and sensitization about inclusive education in schools. During the training where two laptops and two projectors donated by UNICEF that will support inclusive education at the school were unveiled to the participants, Kyaboona cited there’s need to plan and budget for all learners as schools aim at creating better learning environments for learners. His call comes after the department realized that some schools have been leaving out special needs children during compilation of enrollment reports. Kyaboona further urged the teachers to get equipped with computer skills saying it will be a requirement if a teacher is to embrace inclusive education that has a digital component that might be a hiccup to a teacher who isn’t computer literate.
